Sleep Apnea, Tonsillectomy, Please Help Me!?
Okay so i need my tonsils removed because they are enlarged and i am going to get that done pretty soon. however i have no pain swallowing food and i do not get sore throats frequently either. i am not so worried about that though. i am quite worried i might have sleep apnea. i do not know for sure though and i told my mom my concerns and she told me to calm down, don 't worry about it. the reason why my mom said this is because i am bit of a hypochondriac. for those of you who do not know what this means, it basically means you have a fear that you are going to get some type of illness. i admit i am a bit of a hypochondriac and that 's why i am not trying to worry as much. to help me determine if i have sleep apnea or not i am going to use my tablet to record me sleeping. based on this i am going to determine if my breathing is abnormal or not. so basically my question is what should i look for in the recording to determine if i have sleep apnea or not? please do not give me absurd answers. i need some serious, thorough answers. thank you! Sleep Apnea From Smoking? Or Anxiety?
I have been smoking cigarettes on and off for about 5 years now. i go through bouts of not smoking at all for 2 weeks, and then smoking 10 cigarettes a day on the weekends when i 'm out with friends. this past weekend i smoked more than i usually do, probably 10-15 each day for 3 days, causing me to have a heavy chest/ labored breathing. last night i tried to go to sleep, but each time i dozed off i immediately had a mini panic/ anxiety attack that woke me up each time because i my body would not involuntarily breathe in as it should and normally does when i sleep. this went on the entire night, i did not get any sleep due to the fear caused by waking up violently, and today i am exhausted. i tried sleeping on my sides, back, stomach, up right, every time i dozed off the same thing happened. i have never been diagnosed with sleep apnea, but from what i have read i believe the symptoms i have point to it. i thought maybe today it would go away, so i have tried taking a nap (2 pm) and still each time i slightly doze off i wake up immediately from my body telling me i need to breathe in oxygen. could this be sleep apnea/ has anyone else experienced this?? or is this anxiety? Sleep Lab - Sleep Apnea - Tonsillectomy?
I just got home from visiting my ent.not this sunday, but the next i 'll be staying in a sleep lab to determine whether or not i have sleep apnea. i 've been experiencing problems with my throat, such as soar throat, white patches, swollen tonsils and lymph nodes. basically re-occurring tonsillitis. i 've had it 6 times in the past 4 months. my grandma (guardian) told my ent that ever since this started those 4 months ago that she 'd been hearing loud noises coming from my room, which was me snoring. what is sleep apnea? and what can i expect when i visit the sleep lab?the doctor told me that after i discharged from the lab, i 'd get a call from himself so we can talk about a tonsillectomy. can i get one if i want one? if not, what has to happen for me to be able to get them removed? Sleep Apnea As A Young Man? (serious)?
Hello everyone at yahoo answers...i believe that, even though i am a 19 year old young man, i am a suffer of sleep apnea or another sleep-related condition. i believe both my mother and father have the condition, so i assume that is why i may have it as well. however, i am not sure. i 'll describe my problems, and if anyone can give me some solid, logical advice or information, i will be very grateful:- first and foremost, i am a night person and i work six nights a week at a fine dining dinner-only restaurant. i will often get home at 11:30pm, then fall asleep near 2am. however... i have difficulty waking up at 11am or noon. then when i do wake up, i feel tired. very recently, i have actually missed 10am alarms (that wake me up, though i can 't seem to find the energy to get out of bed), and slept all the way until 1:30pm, and have only barely woken up in time to be ready and on time to work. this has been going on nearly every day for the past three weeks. most likely because... three weeks ago, i slipped on ice and hit the back of my head, hard. i suffered a mild concussion... although that is self-diagnosed. i didn 't have it checked out, and i slept for 8 hours straight, within an hour of the actual fall. yes, i was lucky, and unprepared for the fall and concussion, as i had never suffered one before in my life and i thus was uninformed. so, if this has to do with my suddenly sever lack of actual rest from sleep, then i would like to know how and what i can do about it at this point...my energy levels feel low.i have a good understanding of nutrition, and i am currently looking into and modifying my diet to get more potassium, b-vitamins, fiber &whole grains, and general nutrients into my body. i have always eaten a large amount of sugar, since i was very young. i 've always had a major sweet tooth. i 'm working on that...i also quit smoking last week! thus far i have been successful, and i am (re)educating myself on the dangers of tobacco and how to successfully quit for good. i am doing my best to work out at least every two days. i find my energy levels are higher after i 've been working out regularly, though i have only just gotten back on it after two and a half months without working out.i 'm doing mostly yoga, some cardio, and relaxing in the sauna, taking lots of showers. i have a good build... but perhaps not the best over-all health, which is what i am seriously working on, and which is my motivation to figure out my hindrances and over-come them, so that i can live the lifestyle i want and not feel constrained between work and sleep.i have a basic, company-provided, $75 a month insurance plan, in northern utah. so, please, if you know anything that might help, post it and links. i have been completely, brutally honest and i am looking for insightful, informed, frank, and hopefully respectful comments that i may be able to use to help myself through this situation.my sincere thanks, lee.
